Rise & Shine
Frequently asked questions.
I’m a beginner can I still take part?
Rise & Shine is truly for anyone who would like to try some movement in nature. You do not need any previous experience of yoga to join in, the instructors are prepared for all abilities to take part and will provide plenty of options to cater to everyone.
One point to note however is that by taking part in Rise & Shine classes, you are agreeing do so at your own risk and you should take full responsibility for understanding your own capabilities on the mat. If you know you are under the care of a medical professional for an injury or condition that you know of, you should check with them first to ensure it is safe for you to take part.
Do I need to book?
Nope, you can just turn up and enjoy a class under the blue (hopefully sunny) skies of Nene park.
Is it really free?
YES! It is important to us that money is not a barrier to enjoying movement, for this reason all Rise & Shine classes are completely free to enjoy.
What about the weather?
Ah the British weather, it does love to put a spanner in the works sometimes and these sessions are no different. Because we care about the safety and comfort of those who join us to Rise & Shine, we will cancel if the weather looks wet, damp or stormy etc. We will announce cancellations the night before on our Facebook and Instagram pages (so make sure you are following us) to give you as much notice as possible. If the weather isn’t looking too good, then check the Facebook group or instagram before you travel to the park.
I’m pregnant. Can I come to a Rise & Shine class?
Unfortunately we do not recommend you join us if you are pregnant or recently post natal, not all of our instructors are trained to teach pregnancy yoga and with the amount of people that attend we cannot ensure you are given all the options you may need for your changing body.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable, that feels good to move in and bring some extra layers just incase it gets chilly during final relaxation.
Do I need a yoga mat or any equipment?
If you have a favourite yoga mat feel free to bring that, but don’t forget we are out in nature so there is likely to be some rabbit or duck droppings in the space we practice in. If you do not have a mat we have some available to borrow or you can bring a towel or blanket to use instead. Don’t forget some water incase you get thirsty.
If you still have a question feel free to reach out in the Facebook group
How did Rise & Shine Begin?
Rise & Shine began in Bali with our lovely founder Helen, where every morning on the beach there was a free to join class of Yoga. All were invited, the invitation being to simply roll out a mat or blanket and enjoy, in whatever way was needed that day. With a seed firmly planted Helen looked for ways to replicate this way of moving in nature in not so sunny Peterborough, with support from the team at Soul Happy and Nene Park an opportunity to test some classes began in the summer of 2023. In an act of yogic universal synchronicity, Verity was a newly qualified Yoga Teacher when her mentor mentioned of a teaching opportunity - outdoors at Nene Park. Nene Park is a place of sentimental meaning for Verity, so she quite literally jumped at the chance to teach there.
That as they say was that, Rise & Shine - Movement in Nature was born. With the combined passions of Helen & Verity to bring Yoga, movement and community together as a free weekly class, one that is accessible to as many people as possible.
We are now lucky to be supported by rota of teachers who come along and share their teaching totally free to the community who join us.
We’d love to see you there - we launch for 2025 from 18th May.

wild and beautiful
and drenched in the sun.”
